So I've been having Jonathan visit for the weekend, and it's been a lot of fun. Unfortunately the Stuff to Time ratio for each day has been very high, so as a result of walking around and so on my feet are really tired.
Things we did:
- Elliott Bay Books
- Olympic Sculpture Park
- Fremont Fair
Plus all sorts of food. More in the coming days I am sure, though. Yes, I know: Most of my moods are sleepy or tired.

For those of you who are new to reading my journal: Hello.
For those of you who aren't: I may try posting here more. I'm thinking I might have to do a friends list cut, though -- too many people where I'm like, "Who are you again?"
So yes. Basically, lately I've just been working a lot and getting better at what I'm supposed to be good at, which is software development and design. I still can't help feeling like I have no idea what I'm actually doing, though. Development is really slow-going, honestly, so sometimes it feels like you get a lot of progress done but you haven't actually gotten anywhere.
Also, I have an ear infection. Interestingly, I also had an ear infection in my right ear last month, so you would think that it was a recurrence of infectionness, but no: this particular one is related to going to the dentist and excess anaesthesia injection, leading to an ear infection in my left ear. Hurrah.
Also, I like Minami-Ke. I suspect that I come off as Chiaki to people a lot, though; in the past few years I've gotten rather suspect of a lot of online drama so I've been keeping to myself a lot. Come talk to me and I might have something interesting to say though.

So Memorial Day weekend was best weekend ever, despite motion sickness.
Also, here's the rub. I don't spend a huge amount of time on LJ nowadays, largely because of getting work and a life and also discovering the wonder that is the PS2. I'll still be posting here when I've got something to say, but:
I have established myself a little outpost on Tumblr, which the interested can find at amykouai.tumblr.com. A tumblelog, for those of you who don't know, is essentially like a blog writ small, i.e., it's me posting movies, quotes, links, short comments, and other stuff that I find amusing. So, anybody who shares my sense of humor and/or aesthetic may be interested.

Just doing my part.

Um, yeah. So I've been working and I am ohmygod tired. Like gonna-pass-out-now tired. But things are going well.
I have big plans for Christmas.
So if I posted more often, would people read it, do you think? I like to think of my journal as sort of like a stage, I guess, rather than a personal thing. It's a way to keep in contact. No point if people just skip over long entries or whatever, though.
Anyway. How're you all?

So today is my birthday.
I have a job.
And I'm feeling pretty good about everything.

Amidst all of the pageantry and show on the 24-hour news networks, this is the most poignant and powerful 9/11 tribute you'll see today.

So I'm now officially graduated, which is kind of a relief because it was touch and go there for awhile.
I say this because I ended up getting a C- on my Senior Project, which would have made me bitter already, except that it triggered a little-known restriction on my program which required that I get at least a C or higher on all classes to graduate, thus preventing me from graduation. So, I had to get various forms and sundry filled out to fix this because apparently it wasn't supposed to stop me from getting a diploma.
The reason I'm bitter about it in the first place is because of the fact that the grades for said project are based not on any sort of sense or proof of actual work you've done, but in fact almost entirely on peer evaluation. The upshot of this is that apparently the hours and hours of work I put in went largely unnoticed. If anything, I like to think of myself as a person of integrity, which is why when I haven't done something up to snuff I take responsibility for it.
This of course means that when I have done something properly, I get kind of angry when it's implied that I've been lying about it. Particularly by my professor, whose main role it seems was to gather and evaluate opinions, which doesn't require actually being present.
Fortunately, I learned a valuable lesson from all of this, which is: Looking like you're getting stuff done is a lot more important than actually getting stuff done.
Also that technology people are terrible listeners.
At least I've got two degrees. But now I've got to find a job and so on, so we'll see how that goes.
I'm home for the summer and completely out of things to do. Entertain me?
6/7/06 03:24 pm
- Yes, I'm still alive.
- I'm graduating with two degrees.
- I am so exhausted.
